I thought I might try something new. I’ve been emailing my resumes to different places. Too tiring. So, this is what I did:
1. I finally signed up for a LinkedIn account.
So far, so good. There had been one glitch, though. I tried connecting my LinkedIn account to my Facebook, but Chrome wouldn’t let me (it still won’t, I don’t know what’s wrong). I tried doing it on Internet Explorer (I haven’t used IE in years! Weird feeling.) Surprisingly, it worked. Maybe I just had to tinker with Chrome settings. Oh, well. It all worked out in the end, didn’t it?
2. I checked out other forms of online resumes. I found some sites:
Then I realized one thing. If I have to make an online resume, I have to spend hours building it, especially if I have one at flavors.me. Hmm. It’s not that I have to; I actually do want to put that much effort into creating a good online resume. I want my DoYouBuzz page to be easy and straightforward. I want my VisualCV to look formal and professional. I want my Flavour.me profile to be a sort of organized portfolio of everything I’ve written or created.
I am also thinking about one other thing. I’m wondering if I should make a page in my WordPress blog specifically for samples of my academic writing, some book reviews, art reviews – even food reviews. You know, to showcase what I’m capable of when I write seriously. I mean, do you guys think it’s appropriate to mix them with my casual writing? I’m thinking of making an entire different blog altogether, one which I can link to in my online resumes. But a new blog is one more thing for me to update. I don’t mind the extra work now, but if I get bored with it in the future, you all know that I’m just going to abandon it. What do you guys think?
Meh. I’ll just focus on my online resumes for now. I know my Flavor.me page needs more work done. Hopefully I get a new job soon. I don’t want to be spending all this time working on my resume for nothing. Later!
